Hayley Thomson

Senior Physiotherapist

Hayley is an APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and has completed her Master of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy degree and Master of Medical Research. Alongside her clinical work, Hayley is currently completing her PhD at the University of Sydney, and her doctoral research investigates the implementation of peer support mentors in private practice through co-design to improve outcomes for people living with persistent pain.

Hayley has published her research in international peer-reviewed journals and remains actively involved in research focused on persistent pain and contemporary physiotherapy management. She also delivers education and training for allied health clinicians in persistent pain management, and teaches undergraduate physiotherapy students at Griffith University.

Alongside her experience in private practice, Hayley has extensive experience in tertiary hospital settings, working with people with persistent pain conditions, including experience within a large interdisciplinary pain service. Her clinical interests include the management of complex musculoskeletal pain conditions, particularly persistent low back pain, neck pain and complex regional pain syndrome.

Hayley is passionate about running group-based programs for people with complex persistent pain presentations, particularly those navigating WorkCover claims, with a focus on improving functional outcomes, building confidence, and enhancing overall quality of life.

She is committed to translating contemporary research into clinical practice and delivering high-quality, evidence-informed care. Using a holistic, person-centred approach, she works closely with her clients to help them understand their condition and achieve their personal goals.

Outside of the clinic, Hayley enjoys spending time outdoors and by the water with her husband and two young children.
